The short version. Deleting your account in the Spelvi app removes it and all your synced data from our servers straight away. No app? Email us from the address you signed in with and we'll do it for you within 30 days. A Pro subscription is not cancelled by deleting your account — cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings.
This page is for the Spelvi app for iOS and Android (developer: Maxim Bekmetov, hello@spelvi.com). You only have an account if you signed in with Apple or Google; if you used Spelvi without signing in, there is no account to delete — your words live only on your device and deleting the app removes them. (Our servers then know the app only by an anonymous install id used to count free-tier limits.)
1. Delete your account in the app
- Open Spelvi and go to Settings.
- In the account section, tap Delete account.
- Confirm with Delete.
Your account is deleted immediately and you are signed out. Words and progress stored on the device itself stay there until you delete the app.
2. Request deletion without the app
If you've uninstalled Spelvi or can't sign in, email hello@spelvi.com with the subject “Delete my Spelvi account”:
- Send it from the email address of the Apple or Google account you signed in with, so we can tell the request is yours.
- If you used Sign in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, say so in the message — we'll help you find the account.
We delete the account within 30 days — usually within a couple of days — and reply to confirm it's done.
3. What is deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes from our servers:
- your account: email address, display name and the link to your Apple or Google sign-in;
- everything synced to it: saved words and word lists, lesson and grammar progress, streaks and goals, your library, book highlights and notes, and bookmarked news articles;
- your sign-in sessions, referral records and the subscription status we keep for your account.
4. What is kept, and for how long
- Usage counters — the daily counters behind free-tier limits (how many AI explanations were used today, for example) hold only an internal id and numbers, and are deleted after 7 days.
- Backups — database backups may still contain your account for up to 90 days, after which they are deleted on a rolling basis. Backups are used only to recover from a failure, never to restore a deleted account.
- Security logs — a record that the account was deleted, holding a one-way hash of the account id and the request's IP address, is kept for 30 days to protect the service from abuse, then deleted.
- Shared word lists — a list you shared by link is public and is not tied to your account, so it stays online. Email us the link and we'll remove it.
- Purchases — records of in-app purchases are kept by Apple or Google, and by our subscription provider Adapty, under their own policies and legal obligations.
5. Your subscription
Pro is billed by the App Store or Google Play, so deleting your Spelvi account does not stop the subscription. Cancel it first in your store account: on iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
